Biography
Cuban-American bodybuilder known by the epithet "The Myth" — a nickname earned by a physique his contemporaries considered almost impossible to believe. He won three consecutive Mr. Olympia titles from 1967 to 1969, and in 1969 he remains the only man ever to beat Arnold Schwarzenegger on the Olympia stage. Oliva was famous for an extreme V-taper: enormous shoulders and lats over a narrow waist, a shape no training method has reliably reproduced since. He died in 2012 at the age of 71.
