Biography
French (Guadeloupe-born) bodybuilder who was a frequent Mr. Olympia podium finisher in the early-to-mid 1970s and a star of the film Pumping Iron era.
Training approach
Nubret worked at the opposite end from the heavy-lifting school: moderate weights, very high volume, roughly six to eight sets per exercise with only 30–60 seconds of rest. The aim was to drive as much blood into the muscle as possible and keep it there as long as possible — pump training in its purest form. Several accounts say he never took a set to failure. Figures like 2,000 daily sit-ups circulate widely but trace back to the same few retellings.
